Stephen Stanley, Strategic Partner & Head of Content Strategy

Stephen has a broad background in independent film finance, production, and distribution. Most recently, he spearheaded the launch of Ketchup Entertainment’s US and UK Film Distribution.  He oversaw the acquisition and release of Ketchup’s initial slate of over twenty-five films.  He also has been point on negotiating key output and ancillary deals as the company broadens its international reach.  Highlights include the breakout documentary hit LINSANITY, the Pierce Brosnan/Emma Thompson romantic comedy THE LOVE PUNCH, the Ketchup backstopped hit BIG GAME, and the upcoming theatrical release A ROYAL NIGHT OUT.

Prior to joining Ketchup, he spent five years at The Gersh Agency, one of the industry’s most established talent agencies. Working within Gersh’s Film Finance and Distribution division, Stephen worked closely with top writers, directors, producers and actors to forge creative talent with pathways to success. His time at Gersh has given him an established network of industry relationships and a strong understanding of equity finance, foreign sales, and senior lending. He was on the team that packaged and sold a broad array of titles including David Schwimmer’s film TRUST, Matt Walsh’s directorial debut HIGH ROAD, Josh Radnor’s Sundance hit LIBERAL ARTS, and the festival darling documentary CURE FOR PAIN.

Stephen received an MFA in Film and Television Production from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2007. He previously received his undergraduate degree from Rhodes College. In addition to his work on the finance and distribution side of the business, Stephen is an award winning filmmaker in his own right with several shorts and two features under his belt as a writer and director.
